In Chapter 2 of his autobiography series with JaME, Kamijo reflected on how MALICE MIZER’s return in 1995 influenced the beginning of Lareine.
Kamijo recalled his shocking first encounter with Gackt near Mana’s home, saying the vocalist’s overwhelming presence left a strong impression on him.
He also described listening to unfamiliar melodies coming from Mana’s Yamaha QY sequencer at his house, later realizing that the song he had heard was “Uruwashiki Kamen no Shoutaijou”. Upon hearing the song’s release, Kamijo wrote that “all uncertainty transformed into pure awe” calling MALICE MIZER “an unbelievable monster” that would begin a revolution in visual kei.
