Today, during a TikTok livestream, GACKT spoke at length about MALICE MIZER, explaining that his renewed reflections were sparked by what he experienced during his Latin American tour this week. The overwhelming fan reaction, especially to “au revoir” in Chile performed at the request of Sho Kiryuin, and the way those moments went viral even across Japanese social media, made him realize just how powerful and alive the band’s legacy still is.
He addressed the belief that the members dislike each other, clarifying that while their split involved serious fights and frustrations on all sides, time has brought maturity and perspective. The members simply moved in different directions, and the intense emotions of the past have largely settled, with no ongoing hostility between them.
Now over 50, GACKT said the recent global response made him think about preserving MALICE MIZER’s work in some recorded form. Referencing X JAPAN and the unpredictability of life, he acknowledged that with former drummer Kami gone, a perfect recreation is impossible, but there are still meaningful ways to honor the band through archival footage and recordings.
Although he considers a full comeback unlikely due to strong personalities and complex past dynamics, he did not dismiss the idea of a one time event, potentially even on a global scale as a world tour. He also clarified that he never refused anniversary participation, he simply was not invited and remains open if approached.
With this renewed worldwide momentum, the question now is, could conversations already be happening behind the scenes to finally make this world tour a reality?
